Conroe teen admits to firearm thefts connected to 2-month string of vehicle burglaries

A 19-year-old is in custody after he confessed to multiple firearm thefts connected to a string of  vehicle burglaries over a period of two months in the Montgomery County area, according to a release from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

Vehicle burglaries were reported over the months of March and April in the Jacobs Reserve, Montgomery Creek Ranch, River Plantation and Harpers Landing neighborhoods. Of those burglaries, numerous firearms were reported stolen after being left in unsecured vehicles, per the release

Brandon Paul Brooks, 19, confessed to stealing numerous firearms reported stolen from the burglaries. Brooks’ arrest was initiated after a tip led police to “several key pieces of evidence” that traced back to him, according to the release. He was arrested May 27 and is currently at the Montgomery County Jail facing multiple counts of theft of a firearm, a state jail felony.

Future charges are anticipated, as detectives are currently following up on several other cases, per the release.
