Officer injured while chasing burglary suspect in southeast Houston

A Houston police officer is expected to be OK after injuring himself while running after a burglary suspect Tuesday morning in southeast Houston.

The officer was investigating a burglary at an apartment complex in the 8500 block of Broadway around 6:30 a.m. when he spotted a door had been kicked in, according to the Houston Police Department. The resident told police several burglars were involved, at least one of whom was still inside the apartment, police said

The officer spotted the suspect, who immediately ran. He started to chase the suspect but fell, police said.

Police did not elaborate on the officer’s injuries but described them as non-life-threatening. He is currently recovering in a hospital, police said.

None of the suspects were captured
