Child found safe inside vehicle that was stolen in Red Bird area, Dallas police say

A 3-year-old boy was found safe inside a stolen car that had been abandoned Friday morning, Dallas police said.

Police responded around 3 a.m. at a Chevron station at Interstate 35E and Camp Wisdom Road in the Red Bird area, where unknown suspects took off in a silver Lexus with the child inside while a parent was in the store.

The car headed northbound on I-35E and was found around 3:25 a.m. at a Texaco at East Laureland Road and I-35E in southeast Oak Cliff, police said.

The child was unharmed, police said.

Suspects fled the scene and are still at large, police said. No descriptions are available.
