Pakistan, India win last pool matches in Kabaddi World Cup

LAHORE: Pakistan and India won their last pool matches against Azerbaijan and England, respectively at the World Cup Kabaddi (indigenous style) in Gujrat on Friday.

Pakistan and India have already qualified for the semi-finals along with Australia and Iran. Both the semi-finals will be played at the Punjab Stadium in Lahore on Saturday.

India play Australia in the first semi-final at 6:00pm while Pakistan take on Iran in the second semi at 7:30pm.

In Gujrat, Pakistan faced tough resistance opposition from Azerbaijan before the former won 40-30. For Pakistan riders Irfan, who is also captain, Akmal Shahzad Dogar, Kaleemullah and Malik Binyameen earned valuable points. Pervaiz and Subhan fought well for Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, India outplayed England 44-26. Arsh Jhola, Deepak Kashi and Ravi Kumar impressed for India while Sukha Lakhpuria, Rana Akmal, Ali and Sajid fared well for England.
