A 25-year-old man has been taken into custody in connection with the stabbing of a young girl at a fast-food restaurant Tuesday afternoon.
According to the El Paso Times, police said the incident was a random attack. The man reportedly walked into the the play area of a McDonald’s in the northeast part of the city and attacked a girl believed to be about 4 or 5 years old, the newspaper said.
Police posted news of the apprehension on Twitter around 4:15 p.m., about an hour after reporting that they were investigating the incident, which took place at a McDonald’s in the northeast part of the city.
The girl was hospitalized in an unknown condition, police said, adding that the attacker had run from the scene.
Shortly afterward, the department posted that the suspect was believed to have been hiding in a nearby hotel room before noting the arrest about 15 minutes later.
