Dry week, dust returns

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Dry for most today with high temperatures climbing to 90 degrees and a feels-like temperature in the upper 90s. There is a low (10% or less) chance of seeing some isolated showers, but the vast majority of the area will stay dry. The heat and humidity will be the focus of the forecast for the work week, with rain chances returning this weekend.

A heat ridge will build into Houston this week keeping rain chances below 20 percent and bringing high temperatures up into the mid 90s.

The next Saharan dust cloud should reach southeast Texas on Tuesday. This one will stick around a little longer with the thickest parts and worst air quality expected on Thursday and Friday. A weak front approaching Fourth of July weekend will push the dust away and bring in a slight chance of afternoon downpours for the holiday weekend.
