A 42-year-old man from Mesquite died early Sunday morning after police say an intoxicated driver crashed into his car in northwest Dallas.
Officers were called just after 1 a.m. to the 11100 block of Harry Hines Boulevard, where a 19-year-old in a Cadillac Escalade hit a Ford F-250 and a Honda Civic from behind, sending the Civic into a median.
The driver of the Civic died of his injuries at the scene. Police withheld his name pending the notification of his family.
The 19-year-old driver of the Escalade and his 21-year-old passenger fled the scene of the crash on foot, police said. Soon after, they were both caught by Dallas officers and taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital, police said.
A 27-year-old man driving the F-250 was not hospitalized, police said.
The Escalade driver is expected to be charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault, police said. His name was not released.
