Grand Prairie is getting a new fire station in this growing neighborhood

Grand Prairie is upgrading one of its busiest fire stations.

The city has broken ground on a 19,538-square-foot facility at 1260 W. Marshall Drive. The station, scheduled for completion in the spring, will replace the existing Fire Station No. 3, which is located at 1702 Robinson Road.

According to Claudia Garibay, public information officer for the Grand Prairie Fire Department, the station will feature four bays for an engine, an ambulance and truck, living quarters and an adjacent classroom. The building will house six to 13 firefighters, and three or four on the training side. A new water tower will also be built at the site.

Located at the corner of Marshall Drive and State Highway 161, the burgeoning area is home to Grand Central Park, The Epic, Epic Waters and The Summit.

“The area has experienced major retail and housing growth, resulting in a larger volume of calls for the station,” Garibay said.
