Wet streets for the morning commute, better rain chance after Thanksgiving

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Prepare for some wet streets on your Wednesday morning a drive. A cool front blowing through the state will bring us widely scattered showers and a few rumbles of thunder, especially before sunrise.

You won’t notice a huge drop in the temperatures, but you will notice a big drop in the humidity Wednesday afternoon.

This front sets the stage for a pleasant start to Thanksgiving Day with a low in the 50s. By the afternoon temperatures will warm into the 70s and you’ll notice the humidity on the rise. This is because of an approaching warm front that will bring isolated showers Thanksgiving evening.

A large weather system moving into Texas after Thanksgiving could bring strong thunderstorms to Houston Friday followed by cooler, wetter weather for the weekend. Saturday will be mostly wet with widespread showers off and on throughout the day as temperatures hover in the 60s. Rain could continue into Sunday morning as temperatures continue to fall. We should dry out Sunday afternoon and Monday, allowing temperatures to get even colder at night. We expect lows in the 30s next Tuesday, and if that verifies, it would be Houston’s first morning in the 30s since February 28th. The last time Houston recorded a freeze was February 27th.
