Here are Richardson’s Thanksgiving holiday closures and service changes

Richardson has announced changes to city services due to the Thanksgiving holiday this week.

The city is also reiterating safety precautions recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and other health professionals as families prepare to travel or attend gatherings.

Among the changes this week are the cancellation of trash, bulky item and recycling collection for residents who are on the Thursday and Friday collection routes. Recycling can be put out the day after normal collection days for those impacted. A full listing of the city’s holiday trash and recycling schedule is available online.

Other city services and offices impacted by the holiday:

  • Animal Shelter — Closed Nov. 26-27. Contact Richardson’s response center at 972-744-4111 to report non-emergency animal related issues.
  • City Hall/Civic Center, Municipal Court — Closed Nov. 26-27
  • Eisemann Center — Closed Nov. 26-29
  • Huffhines and Heights Recreation Centers — Closed Nov. 26; Open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 27
  • Gymnastics Center — Closed Nov. 25-27
  • Library — Closes at 5 p.m. Nov. 25, closed Nov. 26-27
  • Tennis Center — Closed Nov. 26
  • Sherrill Park Golf Course — Open

COVID-19 safety precautions

The city is also reminding residents of holiday pandemic safety recommendations from the CDC. To help stop the potential spread of the virus, the organization recommends that you:

  • Bring your own food, drinks, plates, cups and utensils.
  • Wear a mask and safely store your mask while eating and drinking.
  • Avoid going in and out of the areas where food is being prepared or handled, such as in the kitchen.
  • Use single-use options, such as salad dressing and condiment packets, and disposable items like food containers, plates and utensils.
