A 5-year-old boy died Thursday night after being ejected from a rolling vehicle in northwest Dallas, the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said Saturday afternoon.

Raul Reyna, a department spokesman, said detectives were notified of the accident at 9:48 p.m. Thursday. Detectives said a vehicle carrying three people ran into an impact attenuator on Interstate 35E at the Northwest Highway exit, causing the vehicle to roll over several times.

Alexander Bonia, 5, was ejected and killed, Reyna said.

“Detectives do not believe the child was secured or restrained in the vehicle but are still reviewing information from the crash,” Reyna said.

Reyna said the two other occupants — Angel Bonia, 21, and Jimmy Delarosa, 19 — weren’t ejected. Information about their conditions was not available.
