Two people have been arrested in the shooting of a 3-year-old child last month at a southwest Houston park, according to city leaders.
Leonard Butler, 25, and Mark Wakefield, 27, have been arrested in the case. Authorities with the Houston Police Department describe them as “part of the most wanted sect of the Bloods gang
According to initial reports, the child, initially reported to be 2, was hit about 5:25 p.m. March 30 at Haviland Park, 11600 Haviland St., during a party.
Witnesses said a man jumped out of a gray car that pulled into the parking lot. He began shooting at a parked red car, hitting a child who was inside. The boy was struck in the cheek and buttocks.

The boy has since been released from the hospital and will recover from his injuries, authorities said Friday.
After the shooting began, someone shot at the gunman, who got back in his car and left.
Police at the time implied the shooting may have been due to a fight or gang-related activity.
Both men arrested may be involved in other shootings, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said Friday. Both were also out on bond when the child was shot.
