2 men fatally shoot each other in west Oak Cliff, Dallas police say

Two men who were found fatally shot in west Oak Cliff late Sunday had opened fire on each other, Dallas police said.

Officers responded about 11 p.m. to a call about the shooting in the the 300 block of South Merrifield Road, west of Loop 12.

They found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One man, in his 40s, was on the ground between parked vehicles, and the other, a 55-year-old, was slumped over in the driver’s seat of his pickup with several gunshot wounds to his chest.

Both men were taken to a hospital, where they died, police said.

Another man was wounded on his left wrist. It was unclear who shot him.

The two men who died had an argument that escalated into a “deadly situation,” police said. The victims and witnesses had drinking alcohol before the shooting.

The names of the men involved in the shooting were not released because authorities were still working to notify their families.
