Dallas police looking for trio who robbed Oak Cliff restaurant, zip-tied customers and employees

Dallas police are asking for the public’s help identifying three men who robbed a central Oak Cliff restaurant at gunpoint over the weekend.

Police said the trio walked into Lulu’s Authentic Mexican Restaurant, in the 1200 block of Newport Avenue, about 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Cecilia Ruiz, who was in a booth with her husband and young children, later told WFAA-TV (Channel 8) that she was worried for her husband’s life when she saw one of the robbers point a gun at his back.

“This is the day I’m going to lose the love of my life,” she recalled thinking.

The robbers zip-tied or duct-taped the hands of everyone in the restaurant, WFAA reported. They took about $200 from the cash register, as well as customers’ and employees’ belongings, employee Priscilla Cardiel told the station.

The robbers fled just before officers arrived and drove off in a silver Toyota, police said, but the model was unknown.

Police released images Tuesday of a man they say is a suspect in the robbery.
