New COVID-19 vaccine site opening in Richardson at the University of Texas at Dallas

UT Southwestern has opened a new COVID-19 vaccine site at the University of Texas of Dallas in Richardson.

Vaccines are provided and administered by UT Southwestern personnel on the UT Dallas campus. It is one of four sites operated by UT Southwestern, in addition to Red Bird Mall, Market Hall and the UT Southwestern West Campus, Building 3.

The clinic opened Monday and is expected to vaccinate as many as 800 people per day.

Vaccines will be administered in the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The clinic will use the UT Southwestern COVID-19 vaccine waitlist, not the Dallas County or Collin County list. An appointment will be required. Registration for the UT Southwestern list may be completed online.

UT Southwestern is following state and federal guidelines and is vaccinating Texans who meet Phase 1A or 1B criteria, or who are at risk of becoming severely ill from COVID-19.

Education and childcare workers who meet certain criteria are also now eligible to be vaccinated in Texas. Under state guidelines, people age 50 and older are eligible to be vaccinated starting Mon., March 15.

More information on the COVID-19 vaccine is available online from the Richardson and the Texas Department of State Health Services.

CORRECTION, 7 p.m. March 15, 2021: An earlier version of this story said the University of Texas of Dallas in Richardson has opened the site, but UT Southwestern opened the site.
