Family of missing mom Erica Hernandez asks Houston to pray with them

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The family of Erica Hernandez said they hope everyone will join them in prayer this weekend. They’re pleading for any break in the case.

Hernandez is the missing mother from Houston. Her children Luciano, 3; Dennis, 16; and Briza, 19, haven’t seen her since April 17. Loved ones say Hernandez was last seen leaving a family friend’s house around 2:30 a.m. on April 18.

Eyewitness News spoke with Erica’s daughter, Briza Armenta, and Erica’s sister, Ashley Hernandez.

“She kind of is like my best friend. Whenever anything would happen, I would go to her. She’d be the first person I tell. We talked every day,” said Armenta. “It’s been very hard. I think about her every day, hoping everything will come out good. I feel more for my brothers, because they’re younger. They don’t understand what’s going on as much as I would. I hope she makes it home for them. Not even for me, for them especially. They need their mother there.”

Armenta described her mother as loving, who’d do anything for her family. She talked directly to her mother in the interview.

“Please be strong. We’re coming for you. We won’t stop until we find you. Be strong for us. Be strong for yourself. Know we’re coming,” said Armenta. “I hope they find some type of clue. We have no idea where she could be or who she could be with. I hope they find anything, good or bad. We’re all helping for the best. We hope to have her here soon.”

Ashley Hernandez said they’re asking everyone in greater Houston and beyond to pray with them for a break in the case.

“The mornings are hard. The mornings are hard. I drop my kids off, before I get out of the car with my own toddler, I sit there. I pray. I talk to myself, kind of. It’s hard in the mornings. Once I get going and moving, I get focused looking for Erica and doing everything I can. It’s tough. It’s tough,” said Hernandez. “I’m hoping that we’re closer to find her. My specific prayer for this weekend and I’m asking for everyone to pray. Pray that we find her this weekend or find something will bring us 90 percent closer to finding her.”
