Texas adds 13 coronavirus deaths, 300 more cases

Across Texas, 300 more coronavirus cases were reported Sunday, including 20 older cases that were recently confirmed by labs.

The state also reported 13 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing its death toll to 50,857.

Of the new cases, 240 were confirmed and 60 were probable. Of the older cases, 12 were confirmed and eight were probable.

The state’s case total is now 2,967,354, including 2,530,910 confirmed and 436,444 probable.

According to the state, 13,258,611 people in Texas have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 10,977,308 — 45.6% of the state’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Tarrant County

Tarrant County reported two deaths and 108 cases Sunday.

Details about the latest deaths were not immediately available.

Of the new cases, 84 were confirmed and 24 were probable. The numbers bring the county’s case total to 261,854, including 218,995 confirmed and 42,859 probable. The death toll is 3,543.

According to the state, 902,234 people in Tarrant County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 767,449 — 44.1% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Dallas County

Dallas County officials no longer report new coronavirus data on Sundays. Figures that previously would have been reported Sunday will be released Monday.

As of Saturday, the county’s overall case total was 304,502 — 261,512 confirmed and 42,990 probable. The death toll was 4,088.

The average number of new daily cases in the county for the last two weeks is 100. For the previous 14-day period, the average was 121.

According to the state’s data, 1,207,637 people in Dallas County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 976,537 — 44.7% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully immunized.

Collin County

The state added eight new cases and no new deaths to Collin County’s totals Sunday.

The county’s case total is 92,241, including 75,556 confirmed and 16,685 probable. The death toll is 838.

According to the state, 559,700 people in Collin County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 476,192 — 55% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Denton County

Denton County officials no longer report new coronavirus data on Sundays.

As of Friday, the county had a total of 76,479 COVID-19 cases, including 56,068 confirmed and 20,411 probable. The death toll stood at 604.

According to the state, 436,084 people in Denton County have received at least one dose of a coronavirus vaccine, while 368,074 — 49.1% of the county’s population 12 and older — are fully vaccinated.

Other counties

The Texas Department of State Health Services has taken over reporting for these other North Texas counties. In some counties, new data may not be reported every day. The latest numbers are:

  • Rockwall County: 11,748 cases (9,407 confirmed and 2,341 probable), 157 deaths.
  • Kaufman County: 16,375 cases (13,562 confirmed and 2,813 probable), 263 deaths.
  • Ellis County: 23,164 cases (19,129 confirmed and 4,035 probable), 322 deaths.
  • Johnson County: 20,042 cases (16,948 confirmed and 3,094 probable), 374 deaths.
