Slight increase in positivity rate in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: As many as 46 people on Thursday were diagnosed with Covid-19 in the capital and a slight increase was seen in the positivity ratio as it climbed to 1.04pc whereas 113 people recovered from the disease.

Officials of the capital administration said that during the last 24 hours 4,419 tests were conducted and there are 1,264 active cases in the city at the moment.

Besides this, a medical camp has been arranged in the Police Lines headquarters by Senior Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Mohammad Omer Khan for vaccination of policemen, with support from relevant government departments.

Inspector general of Islamabad police said policemen stand on the front lines in the fight against this pandemic and were making efforts along with other departments to ensure implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), issued by the government.

He said all officials were performing duties as per SOPs and also creating awareness among citizens about how to remain safe from the virus.

Police Service Centres have resumed their work and SOPs are being followed there in letter and spirit, the IGP said, adding implementation of all government directions should be ensured for protection against coronavirus and awareness was being given to people about precautionary measures including advantages of social distancing, use of masks and sanitisers.

He also urged citizens to cooperate with Islamabad police as officials work really hard to keep them safe.

Rawalpindi

As many 21 people tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday and 27 patients discharged from hospitals after recovery during the last 24 hours.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 214 active patients. As many as 44 patients are in hospitals including 24 patients who arrived from other districts and 168 patients are home isolated. As many as 887 patients are waiting for the results of their Covid-19 serology.

Thirteen patients are from the garrison city including six from cantonment, four from Potohar Town, three patients from Rawal Town. Four patients are from Taxila and one is from Murree whereas two patients arrived from AJK and one from Attock.

As many as 10 patients are admitted in Holy Family Hospital, seven in Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH), 12 in Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) and 16 patients in Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH) while one patient is in Hearts International Hospital.

There are two patients on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 32 are on oxygen support and 12 are stable.
