Capital sees lowest single day Covid-19 cases since October

ISLAMABAD: The lowest number of Covid-19 cases were reported in the capital on Friday as 25 people tested positive.

As many as 3,337 tests were conducted in the capital during the last 24 hours and the positivity rate dropped to 0.7pc. Moreover, 73 people recovered from the disease.

Officials of the capital administration said 23 cases were reported on a single day on Oct 5, 2020. There are 1,216 active cases in the capital, they said, adding 62 patients were in hospitals, 57 on oxygen support and five on ventilators.

The highest number of active cases, 101, are in Loi Bher followed by 72 in Bhara Kahu, 59 in G-10, 55 in Tarali, 50 in G-6, 49 in I-10, 47 in I-8, 45 in G-11, 43 in G-9, 42 in Khanna, 39 in G-7, 35 in G-13, 32 in Rawat, 29 in E-11, 27 in G-8, 26 in F-11, 22 each in F-8, I-9, 21 in Chak Shahzad, 18 in Sohan, 17 each in F-10, Kurri, 15 in F-6, 13 each in Alipur, F-7, 12 in Koral, 11 in G-15.

Likewise, there are nine cases in Chirrah, eight each in D-17, Model Town, seven each in Kirpa, Rawal Town, six each in D-12, F-5, Sihala, five each in Bari Imam, G-14, G-5, four each in F-14, G-12, H-13, three each in H-12, Jhangi Syedan, two each in E-16, E-7, E-8, F-15, H-11, I-12, and Tarnol, one each in B-17, E-12, E-13, E-9, F-17, H-14, H-9, F-17, H-14, H-9, I-11, I-14, Saidpur, Shah Allah Ditta and Tumair. Addresses of 143 active cases are not known.

They said there is no patient in 33 other urban and rural areas of the capital.

Rawalpindi

One person passed away after battling with Covid-19 in the district on Friday. As many as 17 people were diagnosed with the disease whereas 19 others were reportedly discharged from hospitals during the last 24 hours.

The deceased was identified as Azra Naheed, 62, a resident of Peshawar Road. She was brought to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology (RIU) on May 30.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 211 active patients. As many as 30 patients are in hospitals including 24 patients who arrived from other districts and 181 patients are home isolated. Besides, 887 patients are waiting for the results of their Covid-19 serology.

Out of the new patients, 10 were from the garrison city, four from cantonment, one from Potohar Town, five from Rawal Town whereas four patients arrived from Gujar Khan and three from Taxila.

Four patients were admitted in Holy Family Hospital, seven in Benazir Bhutto Hospital, 12 in RIU, six in Fauji Foundation Hospital and one patient was admitted in Hearts International Hospital. Four patients are on ventilators in Rawalpindi, 16 are on oxygen support and 10 are stable.

Meanwhile, the district administration teams on Friday sealed two commercial plazas and imposed a Rs44,500 fine on violators of Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).
