Scattered showers, storms today

Scattered thunderstorms are likely across North Texas Monday as a weak cold front pushes through.

This front is dropping down from Oklahoma this morning and will gradually push to the south during the day. Thunderstorms could occur at just about any point during the day, but the higher chances appear to be during the midday hours. Severe weather is not expected, but some heavy downpours and gusty winds are possible.

More cloud cover and a light north wind will help to hold temperatures down today. Highs are expected to stay in the low 90s this afternoon. Tuesday presents a lower chance of rain. Highs will remain in the low 90s for much of the week before hotter weather returns this weekend. Another chance of thunderstorms may return Friday.

The longer-range models are hinting at our first triple-digit temperatures of the summer by next week.
