Heating up to near or around triple digits this weekend

Friday will feature mostly sunny skies with a slight chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, but most will stay dry. Otherwise, it will be slightly warmer with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s. Heat index values will range from the upper 90s to around 104 degrees.

More typical late July weather arrives this weekend into next week as an upper level ridge of high pressure strengthens. This means triple digit heat is expected in North Texas. DFW has yet to officially hit 100 this summer. That will likely change perhaps as early as Sunday. Make sure to stay safe in the heat if you’re working or playing outdoors.

As temperatures increase, our rain chances will be dropping. In fact, dry weather is expected all of next week. Be prepared for staying safe in the heat. Stay hydrated, keep your pets cool and check on the elderly.
