A hot and hazy weekend, but cooling downpours return next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Another Saharan dust cloud is blowing over Houston, and that will lead to a hazy and hot weekend. If you’re hoping for a return of cooling downpours, you’ll have to wait until next week.

Saturday’s temperatures are starting off in the 70s then soaring into the upper 90s. Heat index values will approach 108-degrees, so you’ll want to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks during outdoor activities to avoid heat exhaustion or heat stroke.

You also might notice the sky looking a little hazy gray due to a Saharan dust cloud. A ridge of high pressure in the upper atmosphere will squash the clouds and cause rain chances to plunge near zero percent.

What can we expect for the rest of the weekend?
The hot, dry weather is expected to continue Sunday, but the haze will thin out considerably. Temperatures will climb to near 100-degrees with heat index values again approaching 108-degrees. That’s the threshold for a Heat Advisory to be issued.

When do rain chances return?

We have rain chances returning on Tuesday as another wet weather pattern develops and lingers into next weekend.
