Police dog sniffs out more than 40 pounds of marijuana in Love Field luggage

A Dallas police dog sniffed out 42 pounds of marijuana that was hidden in luggage at Dallas Love Field Airport over the weekend, authorities say.

Canine Ballentine, trained to detect narcotics, alerted police to two suspicious suitcases that arrived Saturday at Love Field. Police obtained a warrant and confiscated the marijuana.

The suitcases had been in transit from San Jose, California, and were destined for New Orleans, according to airport officials.
