Boy fatally struck by vehicle on I-820 in West Fort Worth, closing interstate, authorities say

A boy was killed Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 820 in West Forth Worth, closing the interstate, authorities said.

According to KXAS-TV (NBC5), the victim was an 11-year-old boy attempting to cross the interstate with two other children. A police incident report indicates that the crash happened about 5:45 p.m.

Another person was injured, but was treated and released at the site of the crash, according to MedStar.

The southbound lanes are closed at Camp Bowie Boulevard, and traffic is being diverted onto Interstate 30, NBC5 reported.

Authorities have not said what caused the crash or how many vehicles were involved.
