A 55-year-old man died of gunshot wounds after a confrontation with a man who came to his door asking for work Monday night in central Oak Cliff, Dallas police said.
Raul Rodriguez-Presas was found around 7:50 p.m. in the 2300 block of Tyler Street with a gunshot wound to his chest, police said.
He died later at an area hospital, police said. His death is the 11th homicide in Dallas this year.
Relatives told officers that an unknown man came to the front door of Rodriguez-Presas’ home and asked him if he had any work available. After a brief struggle, the suspect shot the victim and fled on foot, police said.
A man seen running away from the location of the shooting was brought to police headquarters for questioning and arrested on an outstanding warrant. It is unclear if he was involved in the murder, police said.
