Three people were shot late Saturday in a south Houston drive-by that police said could be gang-related.

Gunfire broke out around 11:15 p.m. near Old Spanish Trail and Allegheny, wounding two men and a woman. One of the men was shot in the chest, but all three victims made it to the hospital on their own before police arrived.

Houston police say a possibly gang-related argument led to two men and one woman getting shot about 11:15 p.m. Saturday on Old Spanish Trail at Allegheny. All three, taken to the hospital by private vehicle before police arrived, were expected to survive.

It’s not clear where the victims were or what they were doing when the shooting occurred, and Houston police at the scene offered scant details as they investigated the slew of shell casings scattered across the intersection.

“Looking at the scene,” said Capt. D.W. Ready, “we believe that it may have a gang nexus because of location, casings on the ground and the manner in which the drive-by shooting occurred.”

The victims’ conditions are unknown, and police did not immediately offer a description of the suspect or vehicle.
