Woman killed in shooting at New Year’s Eve gathering in Fort Worth

A woman was killed just before midnight on New Year’s Eve when a shooter opened fire at a Fort Worth gathering.

CMH Events DFW, a warehouse event venue in south Fort Worth near I-35W and east Berry Street, was hosting a large New Year’s Eve party, police spokesman Buddy Calzada said. A fight broke out inside, and several people were firing guns in the building’s entrance area and across the street shortly before 11:45 p.m., Calzada said.

Detectives believe the victim was trying to flee the building when she was gunned down. She was found in front of the warehouse with a bullet wound to her upper body, Calzada said, and pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has not yet been publicly identified.

Homicide detectives were interviewing several witnesses Tuesday morning, and had not yet made any arrests
