A Dallas man was sentenced to 169 years in prison after he repeatedly raped two female relatives for years.
Jimmy Earl Shelly, 38, confessed to the crimes after a lengthy investigation, said Kimberlee Leach, a spokeswoman for the Dallas County district attorney’s office. He was convicted of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and aggravated sexual assault.
Shelly admitted sexually abusing the oldest victim beginning when she was 6 years old and repeatedly abusing her for six years, the DA’s office said. During that time, Shelly also began sexually assaulting another child from ages 10 to 13.
Shelly received consecutive sentences of 99 years on the continuous sexual abuse charge and 70 years on the aggravated sexual assault charge.
He also had a history of domestic violence committed against his wife and other women, the DA’s office said. During the investigation, five women came forward with allegations of sexual abuse they said happened when they were children.
“The heinousness of these acts perpetrated against these young, innocent children helped to secure Shelly’s sentence of 169 years in prison,” prosecutor Keena Miller said. “Shelly will never be able to harm another child.”
