Garland police respond to Sunday afternoon shooting

GARLAND, Texas — 11:15 p.m. UPDATE: Garland Police say they found the suspect dead inside the home, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. They allowed residents to re-enter the neighborhood shortly thereafter, according to a Garland PD tweet.

From their press release, Police think the suspect, 48-yar-old Theodore Austin Ellis, started shooting the victim, his wife, one she got home. They say he then chased her outside, where she was shot. They say he then went back inside and committed suicide. The investigation continues

9:46 p.m. UPDATE: Garland Police are still on scene and are still trying to make contact with the suspect, according to the Garland Police Department PIO. No contact has been made yet.

7:10 p.m. UPDATE: Garland police say they responded to the shooting call around 1:30 p.m.

Police say they now believe the suspect is in a home on Red Cedar Trail, alone.

Police say they are unsure where the shooting occurred.

6:53 p.m. UPDATE: Police confirmed the call was for a gunshot wound, and that a female victim is currently in the hospital with a “non-life-threatening injury.”

A suspect is barricaded inside a home at Red Cedar Trail and Basswood Trail. The neighborhood is shut down and nobody is allowed in or out, Garland police are saying.

It is not yet confirmed if anyone was shot, or if the suspect is alone inside the house
