Burberry apologizes for ‘suicide’ hoodie with noose hanging from neck

Acclaimed fashion brand Burberry is the latest to fall underneath social media outrage after putting out a hoodie with strings dangling resembling the shape of a noose.

The online fury was unleashed after the label’s own model Liz Kennedy protested against the fashion piece denoting a noose and passing it as a ‘fashion statement’, expressing her disgruntle in an extensive Instagram post.

“Suicide is not fashion. It is not glamorous nor edgy and since this show is dedicated to the youth expressing their voice, here I go. Riccardo Tisci and everyone at Burberry it is beyond me how you could let a look resembling a noose hanging from a neck out on the runway,” she stated.

After the show received massive criticism online the CEO of the brand Marco Gobbetti released a statement expressing his regret and apologizing “for the distress” adding that “while the design was inspired by a nautical theme, I realise that it was insensitive”
