Six More Screening Camps Planned For Ratodero And Larkana: Dr Pechuho

Keeping in view the steady increase in number of suspected HIV cases, the provincial government Tuesday directed setting up six more camps at basic health units and rural health centres in Ratodero and Larkana respectively, said health minister, Dr. Azra Pechuho

LARKANA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – APP –  ) :Keeping in view the steady increase in number of suspected HIV cases, the provincial government Tuesday directed setting up six more camps at basic health units and rural health centres in Ratodero and Larkana respectively, said health minister, Dr. Azra Pechuho.

Talking to APP during her visit to the screening camp underway at Civil Hospital, Larkana she said this was mainly to help reduce the load of suspected cases on one single centre and also to facilitate the people in general as well the health personnel.

To further streamline the exercise, she said another CT-4 machine is also being installed at CHL.

“As a long term strategy the provincial health department in collaboration with other stakeholders to help the affected individuals,” said the minister.

To a question, she said particular focus would be on proper management and also to prevent them from being stigmatized.

Manager, Sindh AIDS Control Program supplementing the minister said more than 11000 people have been screened in Ratodero of whom 445 were found to be positive, including 356 children.
