Man arrested after he admitted to fatally assaulting 69-year-old woman in Oak Cliff home, police say

A man faces a murder charge after police say he admitted to assaulting a woman who died after she was found with severe head trauma in her central Oak Cliff home Tuesday morning.

Officers were called about 6:50 a.m. to a home in the 2100 block of West Illinois Avenue, where 69-year-old Telesfora Saldivar was found sitting on a couch with injuries to her head, police said.

Dallas Fire-Rescue took Saldivar to a hospital, where she died.

Adrian Gonzalez, 34, was taken into custody at the home, police said. In an interview with a detective at police headquarters, Gonzalez admitted to assaulting Saldivar, police said.

Police did not specify whether Gonzalez and Saldivar knew each other, nor did they provide any details about what led to the attack.

Gonzalez was booked into the Dallas County jail Tuesday afternoon. His bail has not been set.
