DALLAS — A 28-year-old man connected to the death of kidnapped Shavon Randle has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison.
Darius Fields was convicted last year on three federal weapons charges, including convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
He was sentenced Friday. Fields will also serve three months of supervised probation after he serves his prison term
No one has been charged with murder in 13-year-old Shavon’s death. The kidnapped girl’s body was found in August 2017 in an abandoned East Oak Cliff home. The body of 19-year-old Michael Titus was also found in the home.
Court records show she was kidnapped and held for ransom in a scheme involving drugs, robbery and money.
Fields is the second person connected to Shavon’s death to be convicted. Four other suspects await trial.
LaPorshya Polley, 27, was sentenced in January to four years in prison for making false statements to a gun dealer in order to acquire two weapons for a convicted felon. Polley is scheduled to be released from prison in December 2020, federal records show.

Desmond Jones, 23, is charged with felony aggravated kidnapping. His case is set for trial June 24.
Kendall Perkins, 24, is charged with felony aggravated robbery. Devontae Owens, 26, and Laquon Wilkerson, 31, are each charged with one count of felony aggravated kidnapping in connection with Shavon’s death.
