Peerspace, a San Francisco-based company that allows property owners to list their facilities, Airbnb style, for hourly rentals announced Tuesday morning it has turned its focus to Houston.
While users from any city can list their facilities on the site — the first Houston property was listed on Peerspace in 2017 — the company is now drawing on the $19 million in funding it raised in 2018 to expand upon the organic growth already taking place in cities like Houston.
Local mansions, ranches, warehouses and studios have already been booked for events ranging from corporate events and national cable television network interviews to nude painting classes and brunches.

Eric Shoup, Peerspace’s chief executive, said Houstonians seemed particularly hungry for venues for creative work.
“Houston has had the highest percentage of music videos that I’ve seen,” he said. “We’ve had quite a few filmed in mansions and photo studios.”
In fact, 15 percent of Peerspace’s Houston bookings have been for music videos or social media-influencer photo shoots.
Currently, Houston-area listings include a 75-acre horse ranch in Humble ($125 an hour with a three-hour minimum – horses, hayride and bonfires are available for an additional fee), a tropical tiki bar in Pearland complete with pool, hot tub, tiki bar and “life-sized Easter Island statues” ($75 an hour with a four-hour minimum) and a production studio in Tomball ($80 an hour with a four-hour minimum, lighting equipment available for an additional fee).
Peerspace also expanded to Dallas in March and has established a presence markets including San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Chicago.
