Alliance of Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Efforts” Distribution Drive Reaching out to More than 800 Families

Houston, Texas : “Muslims are from vast backgrounds. Indeed there are Blessings in Unity; and I am always happy to see Muslims coming together united to serve the society in which they live in. No need to talk about Muslim Ban: Time to appreciate and encourage Muslims & all communities to contribute towards the humanity affected by Hurricane Harvey.
These were sentiments of Honorable Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee at a very poor neighborhood Masjid Tawhid this past Sunday, Sept 10, 2017, where an Alliance of many  community organizations had gathered relief items, like Homes &
Apartment Cleaning Kits, Blankets, New Clothes, Hygiene Items, Baby Formula, Food, & Diapers, Adult Diapers, Non- Perishable Food Items, Bottled Water, Hot Meals, and much more. Thanks to donors like Mr. S. Javaid Anwar (Late Tahira Khatoon Fund), Amir Makhani & Friends from Dallas, Curve Hospitality, and many more, Alliance have received In-Kind Gifts worth more than $200,000; and have spent many Voluntary Hours. These efforts will continue in coming weeks.
This “Alliance of Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief  Efforts” consists of the Consulate General of Pakistan-Houston, AL Noor Society of Greater Houston, Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America South Texas Chapter (APPNA), Bangladesh Association of Houston, Greater Houston Retailers  Charitable Foundation (GHRCF), Hashoo Foundation, House of Charity, Houston Karachi Sister City Association (HKSCA), House of Charity, Hashoo Foundation,
Ibnae Sina Clinics, Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA Relief),  Islamic Society of Greater Houston (ISGH), Pakistan Association of Greater Houston (PAGH), Pakistan Chamber of Commerce, Rupani Foundation.
Honorable Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee appreciated the work of this Alliance, and briefed about the efforts of Federal & State Governments.
Other than distributing the necessary items to people coming to  receive at Masjid Tawhid, Alliance Relief Team Workers
went door to door at two nearby Apartments, where extremely poor people live, and more than three feet of flood water had come into their apartments.
Later on they visited Northside Baptists Church and  Main Warehouse of Red Cross to contribute In-Kind Gifts to
these entities. They appreciated this gesture of the Alliance: “United We Stands Together in the Time of Need”. Alliance Members spent some time volunteering at the Northside Baptist Church. As a gesture of “Taking Care of the Care Givers”, earlier on Saturday, Sept 9, 2017, this Houston Community Organizations Collaborative “Alliance of Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Efforts” served food to the 500 volunteers at the City of Houston Main Shelter at the George R. Brown Convention Center sponsored by Late Tahira Khatoon Fund and Tempura Restaurant.

Also on Saturday, Sept 9, 2017, with Bangladesh Community Center Convoy of 17 SUV loads of supplies donated food and cleaning supplies to 500 inner city Families via two churches, Shelters and neighborhoods. As our strong alliance to support flood victims Banglsdesh American Community also served dinner to 500  volunteers at George Brown Convention Center, visited over 200 flood victims residences, helped clean the flood affected homes and build a string volunteer base to support Harvey flood victims.

and Alliance Volunteers Hashmat  Effendi, Dr. Najma Eijaz, Aisha Khan, Mian Muhammad Nazir, Farah Ashraf, Shah Haleem, Haroon Mughal, Zafar Khan, Mehmood Ahmed, Tariq Effendi, Abdur Rauf Khan, Shahid Bilal, Riaz Hussain, Tariq Hameed, iLyas Choudry, and others.

“Alliance of Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief Efforts” holds Massive door to door Distribution drive of daily needs merchandise in the neighborhoods badly hurt by Storm, including Distribution Camp at the Masjid At Tawhid with Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, American Red Cross, Northside Baptist Church, Equippers Bibble Fellowship Church with the Support of Mr. Javaid Anwar (Late Tahira Khatoon Fund), Consulate General of Pakistan in Houston, AMIR Makhani & Friend of Dallas, Curve Hopitality and Collaborating organizations. The Alliance also served food to the 500 volunteers at Shelter in the George R. Brown Convention Center Co Sponsored by Tampura Restaurant.
