Amber Alert Canceled After Girl, 10, Found Safe; Father Arrested

A 10-year-old girl is safe and unharmed after being abducted by her father in Pilot Point Friday afternoon, police say.

William Boerner, 33, was charged Monday morning in the kidnapping of Halley Boerner.

The two were found in his pickup truck in the Little Elm area at about 2 a.m. Monday, shortly after an Amber Alert was issued for the girl’s disappearance.

Police say they learned of the kidnapping Sunday evening after the girl’s guardian said William was refusing to return the girl. He is prohibited from being with Halley without supervision and for longer than an hour, police said.

Police described William as having a lengthy criminal history and a violent past. This prompted an Amber Alert at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday and a warrant for the his arrest.

An early investigation led police to the Nacogdoches area of Texas and in Mesquite, though officers learned William was likely to return to the Pilot Point area.

According to police, Halley was found shortly after 2 a.m. after a Little Elm police officer spotted the William’s pickup truck and made a traffic stop. The girl was in the truck and unharmed, police said.

William was arrested after surrendering peacefully, police said. He was booked into the Denton County Jail on a charge of kidnapping.

Officers with the Little Elm Police Department, Denton County Sheriff’s Office, Denton County Water District, Northeast Police Department and the Pilot Point Police Department assisted in the arrest.
