Amenities for all, CM assures Hindu community

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister and chief of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Jam Kamal Khan Alyani, while talking to a Hindu Panchayat delegation during a visit to a temple in Jhal Magsi on Sunday, said that his party was committed to providing all basic amenities to the people of the province without any discrimination.

“We don’t have enough resources, but the BAP leadership has courage and vision to bring a positive change in the life of common man,” he said.

“The coalition government has been giving due importance to economics, trade and other finance-related activities in the province,” Mr Alyani added.

Talking about the social protection programme, an initiative taken by his government, the chief minister said that its basic aim was to ensure and protect social and economic rights of the people of Balochistan.

“Social protection is about preventing, managing and overcoming situations that adversely affect people’s well being. Social protection consists of policies and programmes designed to reduce poverty and vulnerability by promoting efficient labour markets, diminishing people’s exposure to risks and enhancing their capacity to manage economic and social risks, such as unemployment, exclusion, sickness, disability and old age,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dhanesh Kumar, parliamentary secretary for minority affairs in the Balochistan Assembly, said that the local Hindu community fully supported the government and appreciated its efforts for development of the province and welfare of masses.

A delegation of Hindu community of Jhal Magsi district informed the chief minister about their issues and problems. They demanded that people belonging to the minorities be appointed on minority quota on vacant positions in the education and health departments.

The chief minister noted each complaint and assured the delegation that their grievances would be assuaged and demands met on priority and immediate basis.

He lauded efforts and the role of minority communities in the development of the province and said that it was prime responsibility of the government to provide equal opportunities to every citizen solely on merit without any discrimination.
