Arlington ISD opens applications for free and reduced-price meals for the 2020-2021 school year

Applications for free and reduced-price meals for the 2020-2021 Arlington ISD school year can now be submitted.

Parents can apply online or pick up a paper applications at Arlington ISD’s Food and Nutrition Services office at 5618 W. Arkansas Lane.

Arlington ISD will begin sending letters to district households on Aug. 5 about the eligibility benefits and how to apply for them, according to a district news release, but applications can be sent in now.

The criteria for free and reduced-meals include household income, whether a household receives food from other meal assistance programs, foster child status and the child’s enrollment in Head Start or Even Start.

A compliance coordinator with the district’s Food and Nutrition Services will review applications and determine eligibility. If a household or guardian is dissatisfied with the eligibility determination, they can make a formal appeal for a hearing on the decision.

Applications can be made anytime during the school year. The districts website has more information on free and reduced-price meals.
