The Montgomery County coroner released his preliminary findings into the Dayton mass shooting that killed nine people before police fatally shot the gunman.
Dr. Kent Harshbarger released his findings at a press conference Thursday afternoon in Dayton
Connor Betts, 24, opened fire with an assault-style rifle in the Oregon entertainment district in Dayton early Aug. 4. At least 17 other people were wounded by gunfire. Police said officers shot and killed Betts just outside the doors of a crowded bar. Authorities are still investigating a motive.

The coroner’s report revealed two victims in Dayton’s mass shooting were hit by rounds fired by police, but evidence shows this was after they were already fatally shot by the gunman.
“It is my opinion that all of the deceased victims suffered fatal gunshot wound or wounds from the assailant’s weapon,” Harshbarger said.
