Isaac Israel Warriner, 22, faces charges of abusing a corpse and tampering with evidence in his mother’s death.

Denton police found Sarah Warriner’s body May 5 in an apartment in the 2400 block of Stockbridge Road, near the Denton Katy Trail.

She had been decapitated, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the Denton Record-Chronicle.

Police also found a hacksaw thought to have been used in the crime, but her head was not in the apartment, according to the affidavit.

The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office has not released her cause of death.

According to the affidavit, a nurse at a Denton hospital called security on Isaac Warriner days before Sarah Warriner was found dead because he threatened to kill his mother and himself. He fled before officers arrived, the Denton Record-Chronicle reported.

Police were called to the apartment complex about 10 p.m. May 5 to investigate a report of a suspicious person. When officers went inside the unlocked apartment, they found Sarah Warriner’s body with “obvious signs of trauma” and observed that she appeared to have been there “for some time,” police said.

The Lighthorse Police Department arrested Isaac Warriner on May 5 in Love County, Okla., after a chase.

He was extradited to Texas and booked into the Denton City Jail without incident, Denton police said Thursday.

Police said they are continuing to work with the medical examiner and Denton County district attorney to determine whether additional charges will be filed.
