Elderly man found dead near his Liberty Co. home a month after he went missing, sheriff says

When no one had heard from 68-year-old Coryle Young for almost a month, his nephew went by his home in Ames, Texas to visit him.

Instead of finding his uncle alive, he found the “badly decomposed” body of Young in a grassy area near his home behind C.C’s Club on FM 160 North, according to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

The relative told Liberty County deputies that nobody had seen Young for almost a month, but no missing persons report had ever been filed, said Capt. Ken DeFoor, spokesman for Liberty County.

While the investigators do not suspect foul play, and it’s possible Young may have died from natural causes, an autopsy has been requested.

No other information about the man is known at this time.
