ISLAMABAD: General Qamar Javed Bajwa has been appointed as the Chief of Army Staff for another three years.
“General Qamar Javed Bajwa is appointed Chief of Army Staff for another term of three years from the date of completion of current tenure. The decision has been taken in view of regional security environment,” read the notification issued by Prime Minister Imran Khan’s office.
General Bajwa was appointed as chief of army staff in November 2016 by former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
As per Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Bajwa graduated from Canadian Forces Command and Staff College in Toronto, Naval Post Graduate University in California and Islamabad’s National Defence University.
Prior to assuming the position as chief of army staff, General Bajwa served as the Inspector General Training and Evaluation at the General Headquarters.
