Govt making efforts for stabilising economy: Dawood

KARACHI: Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood on Monday said the government is making efforts to extend all out support to the business community for stabilising country’s economy.

Addressing a seminar on ‘Trade Opportunities in USA, China and Indonesia’, the adviser also appreciated the growth of rice industry in the country. Rice exports surpassed $2billion in financial year 2018 and it is very impressive that the sector is focused on achieving the export target of $5bn, he said.

The adviser suggested that traders and businessmen should also go overseas to build their networks all over the globe. We can also build multi-national networks like other nations,” he added.

Mr Dawood advised that long-term planning must be devised and formulating short-term policy must be avoided.

He called upon the chambers and associations of commerce and industries to build groups to give their inputs with regards to Pakistan’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with other countries.

All businessmen will be provided a level-playing field to grow further and contribute in the economic development of the country, he stressed.

Earlier, the representatives of traders and business community shared the problems and issues they are currently facing.

They also presented their suggestions to bring further improvement in various sectors to strengthen the economy.
