Great weekend weather ahead, dry through next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The weak cool front that pushed through Thursday night will give us great weather on Saturday. Our cool start in the upper 50s will be followed by sunny skies and mild temps during the afternoon. Sunday will be a little warmer and more humid but an evening cool front will give us near perfect weather again on Monday.

One downside to the fronts blowing in this nice weather is that we have to endure extremely high levels of ragweed pollen. Ragweed thrives in temperatures above 50 degrees, and it takes a freeze to finally kill off the weed. Our first freeze typically doesn’t occur until around the first week of December.

Tropical Storm Gamma has formed near the Yucatan Peninsula in the northwest Caribbean. It’ll stay near the Yucatan and the southern Gulf the next 5 days. At this time it doesn’t appear to be headed to Texas but we will of course continue to watch it.
