Here are the first Houston babies born in 2019

Right at the stroke of midnight, Houston welcomed its first baby of 2019.

Weighing 5 pounds and 4 ounces, Elijah Goodman was born at Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center to Veneshia Eaglin and Morris Goodman

A few minutes later, at 12:17 a.m., Deise Cruz and Luis Villa welcomed Luis Villa Jr. at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas. The little guy weighed in at 6 pounds, 13 ounces.

“All deliveries are exciting, but there’s something extraordinary about New Year’s Eve,” hospital CEO Ashley McClellan said in a statement. “There’s a special energy in the hospital, and we all look forward to seeing who is going to be the first to ring in the New Year!”

Over at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women, the first baby came in at 1:09 a.m.

No word yet on whether any of the little tykes have New Year’s resolutions in mind
