Here’s how warm it’s going to get this week in Dallas-Fort Worth

After a stretch of cool and rainy days, North Texas is set for some warmer, drier weather.

DFW International Airport recorded measurable rainfall for 11 consecutive days from March 12 through Sunday, setting the all-time record for most consecutive days with rain, according to the National Weather Service. The previous record was 10 consecutive days of rain in February 1932.

Now the forecast is set for a change in Dallas-Fort Worth, according to KXAS-TV (NBC5) meteorologist Grant Johnston.

“If you’re ready for some warmth and spring fever, we’ve got temperatures in the 80s,” Johnston said, delivering his forecast from home.

Highs on Monday were expected to stay in the 70s, then climb into the 80s the rest of the week, according to Johnston. By Thursday, high temperatures could even flirt with the 90s, and potentially break daily records in parts of North Texas.

Temperatures will be above normal for this time of the year. Dallas-Fort Worth typically has highs in the low 70s, and lows in the upper 40s by this time in March, according to the weather service.

The week is expected to stay dry — perfect for socially-distant walks around the neighborhood — but a chance of rain returns to the forecast on Friday. Thunderstorms could be possible, but it’s too early in the forecast to tell.

“We’ll keep an eye on that,” Johnston said.

Any rain the area sees on Friday will add to this month’s already remarkable rainfall total. Through Sunday, 6.35 inches of rain have been recorded at DFW Airport — close to double what Dallas-Fort Worth normally sees for the entire month of March.

With 15.23 inches of rain since the beginning of the year, this has been the wettest start to the year on record in Dallas-Fort Worth, according to the weather service.
