Hit-and-run driver kills 1, injures another in southwest Houston, police say

A woman was arrested overnight after police said she struck two pedestrians in southwest Houston, killing one and injuring the other.

The incident occurred on Monday, a little after 10 p.m., when a woman driving northbound on the 14000 block of South Main street struck two men who were attempting to cross the road, police said.
She did not stop to render aid, but kept going about a mile or two down the road, Houston Police Lt. W.T. Liu said

She is said to have called her family and police arrested her shortly after, he said.

One victim was pronounced at the scene, but the other was transported and is currently undergoing surgery, he said. A surveillance video caught the incident on camera, he said.

She could face manslaughter charges, he said.

It is unclear whether alcohol or drugs were involved, as the investigation is ongoing.
