Homeowner shoots intruder

A homeowner allegedly shot and killed a man who police said around 3 p.m.Tuesday broke into her home in the 9200 block of Rockcliff Drive.

The woman was home alone when she heard noise coming from a back window. She saw broken glass, grabbed a pistol and hid in a closet. Noticing where someone had entered her home, she opened the closet door, and allegedly shot the man as she had no escape route, police said.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said police believe she fired a single shot. The alleged home invader was pronounced dead at the scene.
