HPD: Husband confesses to shooting wife in west Houston home

Houston police have taken a man into custody who they believe shot and killed his wife Saturday morning.

Houston Police Command Center confirmed that around 10:18 a.m., a person was shot in the head and chest in the 2600 block of Cedarmoor Court.

Investigators arrived around 10:40 a.m. to find a 35-year old woman dead on her bed, said Victor Senties, public information officer for Houston Police Department.

A 50-year-old man, believed to be the woman’s husband, reportedly confessed to officers there that he had shot and killed her, Senties added. It appears to be the result of a domestic dispute, he added.

Senties declined to speculate on the cause of her death or describe the nature of the gun wounds.

Officers have detained the male suspect who will likely face murder charges, Senties said.

Authorities reported that there was an 11-year old and 12-year old inside the house at the time of the shooting and that a semi-automatic hand gun was used. KHOU reported the children were the couple’s daughters.

The identities of the victim and suspect have not been released.
