Huawei To Come Up With Its Own Operating System After Android Ban

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News –) Google has cut off Huawei‘s access to updates of its Android operating system amid the US government‘s efforts to blacklist the Chinesetelecom company.

Google had suspended business operations with Huawei, including the transfer of hardware, software and technical services, except those publicly available via open source licensing. The move came after US President Donald Trump issued an executive order restricting Huawei‘s activity in the country due to its alleged involvement in spying for the Chinese government.

Following the Android ban, Huawei has announced to come up with its own operating system.

In a short response, the company said, “Huawei has made substantial contributions to the development and growth of Android around the world.

As one of Android’s key global partners, we have worked closely with their open-source platform to develop an ecosystem that has benefitted both users and the industry.”

Huawei will continue to provide security updates and after-sales services to all existing Huawei and Honor smartphone and tablet products, covering those that have been sold and that are still in stock globally, the statement read.
